We offer over 45 classes each week, with a wide range of both style and intensity.
ALL LEVELS
Ball
This class incorporates strength training and core stabilization exercises using upper and lower body strength on the stability ball, enhancing balance as well as muscular strength. 1 hour.
Body Conditioning
This strength-training class is the supplement to your cardio workouts. Various types of equipment (tubing, balls, dumbbells) will be used to build your overall muscular strength. 50 minutes.
Boot Camp BOSU (Bosu/wgt)
This intensive cardio and strength training class is designed to introduce a fun and intensive new tool to your workout. The BOSU was created to compliment your everyday interval workout with balancing and stabilization exercises. 45 minutes.
Cardio Circuit Training (CardCir)
Come try our cardio intensive workout which includes timed intervals on the treadmill, rower, Stairmaster and various other instructor choice activities. 45 minutes.
Core
A 30 minute core conditioning class primarily focused on the abdominals and back. 30 minutes.
Cycle
Indoor cycling fun…BIG cardio workout that challenges both your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems and builds muscular power and endurance. 45 minutes **unless otherwise noted for endurance rides**.
Gliding
Small training discs used for increasing the cardio and/or strength intensity of your workout. Incorporated into any level class offered at the Downtown YMCA.
Ladies Night
This self esteem workout is truly for those women looking for an overall wellness working looking to burn calories while stimulating their minds as well. 1 hour
Pilates
This class focuses on core strengthening exercises, stretching, correct posture and breathing to provide a better balance of mind & body training. Bring a mat. 50 minutes during lunch, 1 hour on Saturdays
ViniYoga
This style of Yoga integrates posture, breath and philosophyand is more commonly known for its therapeutic application for the whole body and mind. 50 minutes
Zumba
A cardio workout involving latin dances and sculpting exercises designed to tone the entire body from top to bottom. 1 hour
BEGINNER LEVEL CLASSES
Movers & Shakers (M & S)
These fun filled classes are designed for our members who are 55 and over, but all ages are welcome to join. Low impact floor movements are combined to provide a good cardio workout followed by abdominal work and stretching. 1 Hour
Silver Sneakers (SlvrSnkr)
This chair class is designed for those participants 65 and older who wish to maintain and / or build their overall strength and ability to perform everyday activities with a sense of ease. 1 hour.
BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE LEVEL CLASSES
Circuit Training (CirTrain)
Circuit training is a great addition to your weekly workouts. You’ll get a total body workout that alternates strength and cardio timed intervals using the equipment located in our Circuit Training Room. 45 minutes
Gentle Yoga (G Yoga)
This gentle form of meditative practice specifically designed for seniors allows one to focus on the breath and various postures while also allowing the use of a chair. 50 minutes
Hatha Yoga (H Yoga)
This relaxing form of yoga allows one to focus on the breath while learning basic yoga postures. Please bring your mat. 1 hour.
ADVANCED LEVEL CLASSES
Boot Camp
This intense workout involves athletic based movements including but not limited to running, various outdoor activities, militaristic exercises, weights, sports conditioning, tubing, balls and anaerobic exercises. 1 hour
Pilates 3
This challenging class focuses on Pilates specific core strengthening movements while incorporating the use of various equipment. This class is designed to improve your overall posture, core strength, balance and coordination. 50 minutes at lunch and 1 hour in the evening
Vinyasa Yoga
This Yoga class caters to those advanced participants who wish to move through various asanas in a flowing manner. 1 hour on Saturday mornings.
